Soft Garlic Butter Bread Knots
These homemade garlic butter knots are fluffy, buttery, and packed with rich garlic flavor. They’re perfect as a side dish for pasta, soups, or simply enjoyed fresh from the oven.
Ingredients
For the Dough
- 3 cups (375 g) all-purpose flour
- 2¼ teaspoons instant yeast
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup (240 ml) warm water
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
For the Garlic Butter Topping
- 4 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
- 4 garlic cloves, finely minced
- 1 tablespoon fresh parsley, chopped
- ½ teaspoon Italian seasoning
- ¼ teaspoon salt
- 2 tablespoons grated Parmesan cheese (optional)
Directions
Step 1: Prepare the Dough
In a large mixing bowl, add the flour, instant yeast, sugar, and salt. Stir the dry ingredients together until well combined. Pour in the warm water and olive oil, then mix until a soft dough begins to form.
Step 2: Knead the Dough
Transfer the dough onto a lightly floured surface and knead for about 8 to 10 minutes. Continue kneading until the dough becomes smooth, soft, and elastic.
Step 3: Let It Rise
Place the dough into a lightly greased bowl and cover it with a clean kitchen towel or plastic wrap. Allow it to rest in a warm place for about 1 hour, or until it doubles in size.
Step 4: Shape the Knots
Once risen, gently press down the dough to release the air. Divide it into 12 equal portions. Roll each piece into a rope around 8 inches (20 cm) long. Tie each rope into a loose knot and tuck the ends underneath to secure the shape.
Step 5: Second Rise
Arrange the shaped knots on a baking tray lined with parchment paper. Cover them loosely and let them rise again for 20 to 30 minutes until slightly puffed.
Step 6: Bake
Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Bake the knots for 15 to 18 minutes, or until they turn beautifully golden brown.
Step 7: Make the Garlic Butter
While the knots are baking, prepare the topping by mixing together the melted butter, minced garlic, chopped parsley, Italian seasoning, salt, and Parmesan cheese if desired.
Step 8: Brush and Serve
As soon as the bread knots come out of the oven, brush them generously with the warm garlic butter mixture. Serve immediately while they are soft, warm, and full of flavor.
Golden on the outside, fluffy on the inside, and loaded with buttery garlic goodness — these knots are impossible to resist.
