These homemade chocolate chip cookies are buttery, soft in the center, and packed with gooey chocolate chips. A simple, classic recipe that always turns out perfect.
Ingredients
- 2¼ cups plain flour
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- ½ teaspoon salt
- 1 cup unsalted butter (softened)
- ¾ cup white sugar
- ¾ cup brown sugar
- 2 eggs
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 2 cups chocolate chips
Method
Step 1: Prepare the oven
Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F). Line baking sheets with parchment paper to prevent sticking.
Step 2: Mix dry ingredients
In a medium bowl, combine the flour, baking soda, and salt. Stir well and set aside.
Step 3: Cream butter and sugars
In a large mixing bowl, beat the softened butter together with both sugars until the mixture becomes smooth, fluffy, and pale.
Step 4: Add eggs and vanilla
Crack in the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract for extra flavor.
Step 5: Combine everything
Slowly add the flour mixture into the wet ingredients, mixing gently until a soft dough forms. Avoid overmixing.
Step 6: Add chocolate chips
Fold in the chocolate chips, making sure they are evenly spread throughout the dough.
Step 7: Shape the cookies
Scoop spoonfuls of dough onto the prepared baking trays, leaving enough space between each one for spreading.
Step 8: Bake
Bake for 10 to 12 minutes, or until the edges turn golden while the centers stay soft.
Step 9: Cool and serve
Leave the cookies on the tray for about 5 minutes before moving them to a cooling rack. Enjoy them warm or store for later.
